CUB SCOUT ROUNDTABLE: Theme: Responsibility. Let's kick off our Cub Scouting year with some excitement for our new themes! One of Cub Scouting's 12 Core Values is highlighted each month and this month we are exploring Responsibility through Fire Prevention, so come and get some ideas for your pack meetings to teach the values and keep the FUN! TEMPORARY STAFF ASSIGNMENTS: Opening Ceremony and Flags - Pack 362 / Skit or Ceremony - Pack 506 / Game - Pack 198 / Song - Pack 562.

BOY SCOUT ROUNDTABLE: Thursday, September 9th - Places to Go and Things to See. Is your unit in a rut? Are you going to the same places every year? Getting tired of the same old, same old? Come to September's Roundtable as we discuss and discover where units have gone this summer, where they plan on going this year and where they have gone in the past. We will also have some thoughts on places you may not know about that may interest your scouts. On a side note we will also recap what training is available for your newest leaders, and some more advanced options for your more experienced leaders.

OPERATION SUPPORT OUR TROOPS: OSOT in Illinois has its warehouses in Lisle. Every other week, hundreds of parents of troops, veterans and interested people pack boxes to send overseas to the military. We collect names of local men and women who are currently serving overseas and send them one of our boxes. The boxes are packed full of stuff they can use. Soap, magazines, newspapers, dry powder drinks, shaving gear, deodorant, & snacks of all kinds. If you or your troop can collect these items and bring them to the roundtable, we will take them over to the warehouse and have them shipped overseas. See www.osotil.org for a complete list of items needed. OSOT is paid for by Gary Senese, the ?LT Dan Band? concert held in Wheaton each year. See you at the Roundtable! Rod Herbig

  • What's NEW?

Hot NewsBeAScout.org: Putting Scouting on the Map! Based on a successful campaign by councils in the Northeast Region, the national BeAScout program gives leaders a Web?based tool to manage recruitment.
    1. Unit leaders publish information about their unit to a pin icon on a Google map.
    2. Parents go to the Web site, submit their address, and find units in their neighborhood.
    3. Leaders gather information from visits to their pins and compile ?leads? that they can manage through MyScouting. Help promote this viral membership campaign i.e. promote BeAScout.org: and link it through the attached logo for your unit and/or district materials, websites, social networks, and emails.
